Knowing this, it would make sense that we would go out of our way to ensure that our homes are safe and healthy environments…but do we? Stephen Collette is a building biologist and environmental consultant in the residential market, which means he spends his time understanding what leads to construction failures, locating potential health concerns, and advising people on how to identify and prevent threats to their health that are posed by their homes.
On today’s episode, he explains the beginnings of the field of “building biology,” the importance of empowering people to take control of their environment and health through education, some of his most common recommendations (and why they’re recommended) for particular features of buildings, and the harmful chemicals we encounter on a daily basis.
