Sleep apnea is a disorder that’s becoming increasingly common, but the experts are still struggling with diagnosing it, treating it, and maintaining patient compliance. Delta Waves was founded in 2005 with the goal of treating sleep apnea through various forms of cutting-edge technology, including the latest continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), bi-level positive airway pressure (BiPAP), and adaptive servo-ventilation (ASV) machines. But sleep apnea isn’t all they’re focused on: by running sleep studies six nights a week, the team at Delta Waves is collecting huge amounts of important data that is enabling them to identify two-thirds of every sleep disorder currently recognized.
Joe Schulz, Dale Moseley, and Adam Moseley join the podcast today to discuss their respective roles in the company and how each contributes to the overall collaborative effort of improving the quality of the lives and sleep behaviors of people around the country. The expert trio in sleep science offers an interesting discussion that touches on a variety of topics, including the difference between obstructive sleep apnea and central sleep apnea and how the treatment differs between the two, what happens during REM sleep, and why people are more likely to experience apnea during REM sleep.
